Antinous was the ringleader of the suitors — the hundred-odd men who moved into Odysseus' house while he was missing at Troy, ate his herds, drank his cellar dry and courted his wife in his own hall.
He was the worst of them. He bullied Telemachus in public, plotted to have him killed at sea, and threw a footstool at a beggar who came asking for scraps. The beggar was Odysseus.
When the great bow was finally strung, Antinous was the first to die — an arrow through the throat, mid-drink, before he understood the room had changed. The print puts the whole account of him behind his own face, in text he would never have bothered to read.
