Agamemnon commanded the Greek army at Troy. Son of Atreus, brother of Menelaus, husband of Clytemnestra, and by every account the most powerful man in the Achaean world. Power was never his problem.
He sacrificed his own daughter at Aulis to move a fleet. He took Achilles' prize and nearly lost the war over it. Ten years later he sailed home with the spoils of a burned city and walked into his own hall without pausing at the threshold. Clytemnestra was waiting.
His name is usually read as “steadfast” or “very resolute.” Resolute in a difficult way. The print puts his story around him in text he is facing away from — which is the joke, and the point.
